Sunday School 2007-2008

Introducing the theme for our 2007-2008 Sunday School Year...

Our Bible, Our World

This year the students will be exploring the Bible in many different ways. We will be learning that the Bible is not a single book, but an anthology, a collection of many smaller books.  We will explore the differences between the Old and New Testaments, and we will become familiar with which books belong in each section. We will look at the different types of books that the Bible contains and the context in which they were written.  We will look at specific stories written in different ways about the same subject and try to understand the message that the authors wanted to impart in their writing.

Everyone is welcome to join us at our Opening Breakfast on Sunday, September 23rd at 9:30 am in Derr Hall.  At the breakfast we will distribute folders to each family with more details of the curriculum, schedule and contact details for all families.  In addition to the fellowship and good food that we will inevitably enjoy, we will also introduce our theme with a huge craft project, which will require everybody’s help!  We extend a special invitation to visitors join us to find out more about our exciting Rotational Workshop format for Sunday School.

Youth Classes

Calvary’s newest youth activities - the Youth Forum and Youth Connections - are open to all confirmed youth (grades 8 to 12) during the school year.

  • The Youth Forum is for youth who want to meet to talk about issues important to them, in a safe and friendly place. Meetings will be on the first Sunday of every month from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the Youth Lounge on the lower level of Fellowship House. October 7th will be the kick-off Sunday for the 2007-2008 Youth Forum series.  We’ll make plans for the upcoming year, and have a short discussion entitled, “We're not as dumb as you think we are - A parents' perspective on you.”
  • Youth Connections: Youth Connecting Faith and Life, meets in the Pastor’s Study, off of the Sanctuary,  from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on all but the first Sunday of the month, when the Youth Forum meets. Each week a different topic will be presented, and the discussion will be lead by a member of the church or an outside speaker.  The class schedule will be announced soon.
